Was ist Buffy ?

Ich werde diese Anfrage mal in mehreren Boards machen, mal sehen was ich alles fuer Antworten bekomme:

Mein Problem:

Wir werden in 1-2 Wochen eine Runde des Buffy-Rollenspiels spielen haben aber 1-2 Spieler dabei die Buffy NICHT kennen (oder bestenfalls mal 1-2 Folgen).

Wie erklaere ich den beiden was Buffy ist, was die Serie ausmacht und was sollten sie AUF ALLE FAELLE wissen ?

Ich koennte den beiden auch 33 DVDs (Season 1-5) in die Hand geben, aber das waere doch etwas zuviel des Guten (zumindest fuer den Anfang)

Was wuerdet ihr mir raten ?

Also so ganz sponntan kann ich Dir da zwar nicht helfen, aber ich hab mal schnell zwei Links ausgebuddelt. der eine dreht sich darum wie irgendwer seine Freunde dazu "bekehrt" hat Buffy zu kucne, und der zweite Link geht um die "representativste" Buffy Folge. Vielleicht hilft es ja schon, wenn Du ein oder zwei Folgen zeigst um zu verstehen was Buffy ist

Leider finden sich da keine "Patentrezepte" oder auch nur Kurzzusammenfasungen.

Im offiziellen Buffy-RPG-Board wurde mir (bisher) auch nur geraten ein paar "Kernfolgen" aus der 1. Season zu zeigen...

Die erste Season ist zwar (was Spezialeffekte und Aussehen der Leute angeht) im Vergelich zu den spaeteren Seasons stellenweise schrecklich (ich hab' im Regelwerk ein Cast-Photo aus der 1. Season gesehen... zum weglaufen) aber um zu erklaeren was "The Slayer" ist, was an Sunnydale besonders ist, ... ist die Season doch ziemlich gut geeignet.

Evtl. wuerd' ich das aber durch Folgen aus der 2. und 3. Season (besonders mit Kendra und Faith) ergaenzen um mal "andere" Slayer zu zeigen...

Ich hab letztens The Wish wieder geschaut, und obwohl sie in nem Paralleluniversum spielt ist mir aufgefallen, das in dieser Folge einiges erklärt wird.
Der Zusammenhang der Folge ist auch gut zu verstehen, da am Anfang alles gesagt wird über die Beziehungsprobleme.
Und dazu ist es eine ziemlich geile Folge.

stimmt, dennoch ist es für Einsteiger wohl nicht so geeignet.
schwierige Sachen, am besten wäre es wohl, ein paar Highlight Folgen aus verschiedenen Staffel (inkl. Ep. 01-1-Welcome to the Hellmouth) zu zeigen. also solche, die auch einigermaßen nachzuvollziehen sind, wenn man nicht alle anderen gesehen hat (aber auch nicht solche Blindgänger wie "Go Fish" oder "Bad Eggs")

Ich weiss... Ein Bild sagt mehr als 1000 Worte, aber kennt ihr nicht auch GESCHRIEBENE "Buffy-Introductions" ?

Ich glaube nicht, dass wir dazu kommen VORHER nochmal DVDs oder aehnliches auszutauschen...

Ich hab' eben (im Buffy-RPG-Board) folgende Antwort gekriegt:

Here is my summary of what Buffy is for someone who has never seen it, but plans to make a character for the RPS. Feel free to pass this on or post it as long as you give me credit.

Buffy Is...

...one of the best television shows ever. It tends to start with a montage of scenes from previous episodes, then an opening scene to introduce the episode which is followed by the theme song. If you are lucky your GM may add these little touches for flavor. Many stories may be self contained, but characters and subplots carry over from episode to episode.

...the brainchild of Joss Whedon. Joss has a real fondness for cliches. Specificly he likes to break them in interesting ways. The cute blond chick gets followed down a dark alley by a vampire. Then she turns around and kicks his butt. Joss seldom does the expected and when you see a cliche be prepared for it to be exploded.

...a show about fighting monsters. Vampires are (with a few notable exceptions) soulless evil things which must be killed to protect humanity. Demons, likewise, are often, but not always equally evil. Humans may have monsterous traits, but killing them is discouraged if possible. The Slayer's job is to make these distinctions, slay those things that must be slain, and maybe just save the world in the process.

...a metaphor for growing up. The series starts in a High School which is literally on top of a Hellmouth (i.e. entry way to Hell.) Students who feel invisible may actually turn invisible (not a good thing.) Others who feel monsterous may become monsters. Some of the kids eat the Principle alive literally. Essentially every bad thing that can happen metaphorically while growing up becomes the literal truth which the Slayer must fight.

...a female supremicist world. The women in Buffy kick butt while the men are either a little or a lot less competent. Even the best male fighters can't keep up with the Slayer (One girl in all the world chosen to hunt the vampires.) Most of the powerful male characters are at least a little out of control (Vampires with souls, a werewolf, a commando who has been experimented on by a mad scientist.) Female characters are often powerful witches, reformed demons, potential slayers, or of course the slayer herself. More controlled males include stuffy Watchers and hapless ordinary high school students. Girls rule, boys drool isn't 100% true in the setting, but it is close.

...a show about relationships. Just about every character on Buffy has had a couple strong romantic relationships and most of them don't end well. If the game is going to be true to the series think about what sort of person your character will be most likely to fall for. If that person is not the sort that they can ride off into the sunset for happily ever after withthen you're getting into the spirit of the show.

...a tribute to pop culture and verbal facility. Buffyspeak is almost it's own dialect. References to TV shows, comic books and even Role playing gamess fly faster than Superman when Lois is in trouble. Don't worry too much, you'll get the hang of this once you've played a couple sessions.

...surprisingly touching. "The Body" was possibly the most emotionally difficult hour of TV I've ever seen. Willows romance with Tara was in turns brilliant, sexy, and tragic. The characters can be surprisingly emotionally real.

...impossible to fully summarize. I've tried to give you a taste of what the show is like, but the only way to fully understand Buffy is to watch it.

kannst ihnen ja auch nur ein paar wichtige szenen zeigen von buffy, wo man viele charakter siet. sie müßen je keine ganze episode sehen, um sich auszukennen reichen auch verschiedene szenen!!!

oder am besten die trailer von "SMG Fan"

die wären genial!!!!
