Squeee! Das ist ja mal total cool!! I ..

An interview with Alan Rickman
by Carol Muskoron
He's in his fifties, very sexy and starring alongside Emma Thompson, Hugh Grant and Liam Neeson in the new release, Love Actually, which is being billed as one of the biggest British films of all time...

Does it bother you that women often look at you for your possible worth in bed rather than looking at your acting?
It amuses me! I set out to be as honest and open and direct an actor as I can. And I've noticed that when actors try to work openly, some kind of attraction is created because people see a route to you as a person, or they think they do. Maybe that creates an attraction; it's not to do with any conventional looks; it's the emotions an actor taps into.

After the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves and the bad guy in Die Hard, do you think you've cornered the 'baddie market'?
No. I've played such a mixture of characters. They're all different from me - I think as much about Truly, Madly, Deeply and Sense And Sensibility as I do about the baddie parts.

But do you prefer hamming it up to the more normal roles?
I like doing it all, really. If you're asked to be very minimal and real, that's just as interesting as hamming it up. A film like Love Actually is fairly restrained but it's not less of a challenge. It can be much easier in a way to come on all guns blazing. A lot of what Love Actually is about what isn't being said - between me and Emma, anyway.

Was it like bumping into an ex, seeing Emma Thompson on the set of Love Actually?
Well it felt like going back to old ground in a way. We've made four films together now - Sense And Sensibility, I directed her in The Winter Guest and we did Judas's Kiss (where we were romantically involved). But Emma and I have developed too much of a sense of humour to take it all too seriously - laughing too much on set is often a problem. Everybody had such a short time in the movie to say who their characters are and if you're going to say, 'Here is a couple who have been married for a while and they've got two kids,' you've got to do that in swift, short strokes. So, on the whole, the fact that we're close friends helps. Maybe that's why Richard [Curtis, director/writer of Love Actually] wanted us to play these parts.

Do you spend much time in Hollywood?
When I'm working there.

Do you like it?
Yeah, because you can go to the movies at 10 in the morning and there's nobody there eating popcorn in your ear. And I have good friends there who aren't particularly in the business and there are great bits of countryside to go to. I'll spend a day walking around Joshua Tree or going up to San Francisco.

Was there a point in your career when you thought: 'I've made it?'
It still hasn't happened!
Yes it has!
No, because there are always people hanging around with a machete. Anytime you think you've made it, somebody'll lop you off at the ankles. Cate Blanchett said something once that was very true. She said that the horizon was always shifting, but that it's a good thing. A good sensation of never having quite arrived.

And when you knew you were a household name, you didn't have a feeling that you could rest and say, 'I've done something good here?'
Erm... the work's the important thing, not whether you're a household name.

Are you still a staunch Labour supporter?
Well, I certainly think, 'Who else are you going to vote for?'

So, maybe a supporter but not staunch?
Well, not uncritical but then I never was. I think it's a very, very complicated world now and I don't think there are any easy affiliations.

Did you like working with Richard Curtis?
Yeah, he's lovely.

Had you worked with him before?
Never. And this was his first film as a director and I had directed one movie up until now and so I envied him his incredible calmness and sense of where he was going and what he was doing. I guess it helps if you've written it. He was great.

Have you noticed a big difference in your career since you've done Snape in the Harry Potter films?
Harry Potter feels like a whole other part of my life. It's somehow not part of the me who did Private Lives in the West End and the me who directed, and who did Love Actually. Harry Potter is like a pocket of life that I go and visit again from time to time.

Have you read all the Harry Potter books? Are you a fan?
You can't stop turning the pages, can you? But I haven't read them all - I have to try to catch up as we film.

The part of Snape seemed so perfect for you... there was something about it which made it look like you were stretched and yet sort of confined at the same time. Did you feel that?
Good way of putting it, actually. Because that's what Snape's like. There are such still waters in there. And the trouble is that there's so much we don't know yet 'cause JK Rowling hasn't revealed it. I know a couple of things about all that, that you don't and I'm not telling...

How do you get the dreadful Snape hair?
Easy. It's a wig.

Is there a theatre role you still fancy doing?
Well, you run out of them unfortunately, the older you get. You keep thinking, 'Oops! Can't do that role' and 'that's gone'! The older you get, the more parts you miss out on.

Do you prefer theatre to film?
No. And after I'd done a year on stage the last thing I wanted to do was another play. It's a balancing act.

Does theatre take it out of you more?
Yeah.

But does it give more?
Not always. Sometimes it takes more than it gives. It's a very particular discipline, especially when the reviews are a success, so that the theatre is packed, and there are people moaning that they can't get a ticket and you're just a little actor. Opening night on Broadway is pressure, but that's what I do. It's part of the job. It's great when the curtain comes down at the end... and it's great when you're doing it, too. It's just that hanging on to that concentration for two solid hours is hard. At least in a film if you screw it up you can do it again.

What's the best line you've ever uttered in a film?
Well, in a TV series years ago, it was my character's exit line from the whole thing and he turned to these two people who'd just trounced him and said, 'May you both live forever!'

Today there was an article in the music magazine Q which listed some of Dan's favorite songs. Among the top 5 are ::

5 - Hard to Explain by The Strokes

"One of the best songs from a phenomenal album. I listen to 'Is this It' whenever I am doing homework."

4 - Time for Heroes by The Libertines

"Probably the most brutally honest song about England since Anarchy in the UK."

3 - San Quentin by Johnny Cash

"I love this live track especially when you hear the applause when he sings, 'San Quentin may you rot in hell'."

2 - Suffer Some by Jane's Addiction

"This is an awesome track. Perry Farrell's vocals are brilliant."

1 - Growing on Me by Darkness

"This for me, is pure rock music. I have to have a daily dose of Permission To Land before I leave for the film set."

Others he likes ::

Californication by the Red Hot Chili Peppers
Pink Moon by Nick Drake
Broken Face by Pixies
Walk on the Wild Side by Lou Reed
Holidays in the Sun by the Sex Pistols

What does Dan say about his music interests?

"It's not just a phase, I just like the attitude and the way the music sounds. It's one of the things that usually surprises people about me."
Also das mit The Darkness wusste ich noch nicht... :thumb: :D

Außerdem gibt es hier ein große Version des Harry/Eulen-Bildes: http://www.radnetcafe.com/new_drgalleri ... LARGE.jpeg :)

Ich fühl mich hier so alleine... :D
He incarnates one of the most diabolical and unpleasant characters from Harry Potter. And he loves it! Tom Felton, a.k.a Draco Malfoy, is nevertheless an adorable young man. Far from getting a big head (ego) with the success of two Harry Potter premieres, Tom isn't even sure he wants to be an actor all his life...

Q: What can you tell us about "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban"? For example, is it true there will not be a Quidditch match?
A: Don't count on me to tell you! [laughs] I know very well that Alfonso (Cuaron, the director) and the producers would kill me if i unveiled what will happen. I really don't have the right to say, I'm sorry...

Q: Can you at least tell us how your character will evolve in this film?
A: [laughs] No, I can't tell you that either! Alright, since youinsist, I'll give you one scoop on the film, but this will be the only one. In "The Prisoner of Azkaban", Malfoy has a new haircut. He doesn't have his hair plastered back with gel. It was the director's idea, and I can't say I don't like it. It gives me less time in makeup. [laughs]

Q: Is it true that you're a big amateur fisherman?
A: Yes, it's one of my passions. You may find it strange, but I prefer fishing almost to being on set. When i have a little free time I go with my brother to Old Bury Hill lake, near where I live, and we fish for hours. My specialty is carp fishing. My biggest haul was a fish of almost 15 kilos. In that lake it's very rare to find a fish that big. So you can see, fishing and me, it's one big love story. I'd love to make it my profession one day...

Q: You're ready to leave your acting career to become a fisherman?
A: Yes, it wouldn't bother me at all. For example, I'd really love to be fish keeper (?) or have my own store for fishing equipment. You know, being an actor my whole life was never my ambition. I'm doing it now because it's fun, but doing "Harry Potter" is enough for me. I'm not the type to go through dozens of auditions to get one role. Star status doesn't interest me either.

Q: So, if they ask, would you accept the part in the next four "Harry Potter"s?
A: Yes, of course. Without hesitation. I like the Malfoy character too much to let someone else take it.

Q: Did you read J.K. Rowling's books?
A: I'm ashamed to admit it, but no. Contrary to most film actors, I preferred not to read them becuase I thought it would influence my acting too much. I wanted to play the role of Malfoy as he was written in the scence and not in J.K.'s books.Maybe one day I'll read them. For now, I'm not too drwan to the reading.

Q: What is the reaction of "Harry Potter" fans when they meet you?
A: Inevitably, people have the impression that I'm as mean and nasty as Malfoy. The worst is the reac tion of little kids. When 5 or 6 year old fans see me they often start to cry. They're terrified becuase they think I'm really Malfoy. They don't make the distiction between the actor and the character. One time, Chris Columbus's kids ran away when they saw me! [laughs] These reactions make me a little angry, but at least it proves I was convincing in my role. That's gratifying enough.

Q: Out of all the "Harry Potter" scenes you've filmed up to the present, which is your favorite?
A: Without question, the dueling club scene in "Chamber of Secrets". Daniel and I, we really acted like nuts when filming that. In general, I love doing scenes with Daniel. You have to know he's a little devil on set. It always amuses him to play the worst jokes imaginable, like secretly taking out cell phones and changing the menu language to Russian or Turkish. Like, all the pressure is on his shoulders and he's the star of the film, so he often needs to unwind by playing jokes.

Q: Do you get a lot of mail?
A: Yes, a ton. Fans send me all sorts of presents. I also get a lot of love letters and even marriage proposals.

Q: Who are your favorite actors and actresses?
A: I adore Samuel L. Jackson. He's one of my biggest idols and I systematically watch all his films. For women, my favorite is Angelina Jolie. I have a weakness for her...
PoA trailer to be attached to 'Return of the King'
Nikki, a Marketing Assistant for RMP, sent in news that the Prisoner of Azkaban trailer will also be attached to the final Lord of the Rings movie, Return of the King. Good news, because I'm sure most of you are planning to see it anyway.
Cuaron hires magician to spice up PoA
Alfonso Cuaron has decided that Prisoner of Azkaban needs more than computer generated graphics, and he's hired one of the best to do it. Paul Kieve is a man enlisted usually to add a "real" magical effect to on-stage dramas, and he's been brought onto the PoA set to add some real magic to the movie. icLiverpool has the full story.
ONE: How is the third film going? Anything interesting you can reveal?
Emma Watson: All that I can tell you is we're all very excited about the shooting and that all is going very well. Daniel has especially loved doing the scenes with the hippogriff. As for me, settling my accounts with Malfoy was a real pleasure. I think the fans will appreciate it too.

ONE: Can you tell us your relations with Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint? What are they to you...really?
EW: More than friends, they've become like brothers. Or sisters, I don't know... [laughing] In fact, I don't see them like normal boys. I mean, I cannot imagine myself going out with one of them. For me, they are like my best friends (in a feminine way). I can laugh and talk about anything with them without feeling nervous. I really like them a lot.

ONE: How would you react if Hermione suddenly fell in love with Ron or Harry? You would be obliged to kiss Daniel or Rupert on the screen.
EW: I really sincerely hope that J.K. Rowling wouldn't do that to me! [laughing] Even if movies kisses have nothing in common with real kisses, I would be terribly embarrassed all the same. But I would be very surprised if something like that happened. I cannot see Hermione going out with one or the other. In any case, it's not in my contract...so, if I have to kiss one of them, I'll resign! [laugh]

ONE: If Hermione doesn't fall in love with Ron or Harry, whom do you see her with?
EW: I hope she doesn't get with anybody! If she had to have a crush on a guy, I think he would have to be very serious, very academic. Why not a Hogwarts' teacher? I think that would be appropriate for her character. But she would definitely be embarrassed with the age difference.

ONE: What do you think about the person Hermione is evolving in to? Do you think she is becoming more like you as the movies go on, or is it the opposite?
EW: I think Hermione's character is becoming more likeable as she grows up. First of all, she's less and less concerned with rules. She's not as obsessed by homework and school success, she's less stressed. In this way, she is becoming more like me. So it's easier for me to be my character.

ONE: In "Chamber of Secrets", Hermione had a very important role in uncovering the mystery, almost as important as Ron or Harry. Do you think that will it hold the same in future movies?
EW: As I was saying, Hermione has changed a lot, and she holds great surprises for us. Even she's still very serious, she's less and less timid and don't hesitate to follow Ron and Harry when they set off on their adventures.

ONE: How much has your life changed since you won the part of Hermione?
EW: My life hasn't actually changed so much as I imagined it would. When the first movie came out, I though nothing would be the same after...I would begin a new life. It was scaring me, in fact. The biggest change is that I'm always far away from home, because we are often abroad for the movie promotion, giving interviews, taking promotional pictures, etc. But that doesn't bother me, it's a part of the job. As for my private life, I have the same friends, but now they see me as the most famous witch in the world, and that's not an easy position to assume. [laugh]

Aber ich muss sagen ich mag Felton, seine Einstellung gefällt mir auch wenn ich seine Liebe zu Fischen nicht ganz nachvollziehen kann.. ich ess bloß gern Fisch.. :D
