Shit. Ich war noch optimistisch, aber jetzt wurde jede Hoffnung genommen.

Abgesehen von den Movie-Specials. Daraus könnte was ziemlich interessantes für alle Fans werden, aber ob die ein breiteres Publikum ansprechen werden, bezweifle ich.

Ich schätze Joss wird jetzt alle Hände voll zu tun haben, die letzten fünf Folgen als wirklichen Abschluss zu produzieren. Bei denen davor wird man glaub ich nichts mehr rumrütteln. Schade dass es so plötzlich aufhören muss. Nur mehr 9 Folgen...

mir wärs lieber wennse die folgen so fertig bringen würden wie geplatn (bin aber ungespoilt) weil ich mir durchaus vorstellen kann dass dann das ganze wies season seven buffy final is.zu abrupt und sowas alles.

Das ist wirklich schrecklich das Angel endet. Erst Buffy dann Angel ich fasse es nicht. Hoffentlich spiel Sarah im Finale bei wenigstens mit und die Serie bekommt einen würdigen Abschluss.

Klar ist alles mal zu Ende, aber ich finde es gäbe noch genug Stoff für Angel. Von daher finde ich es sehr traurig, das Angel jetzt vorbei sein soll.

Statement von Joss

Some of you may have heard the hilarious news. I thought this would be a good time to weigh in. to answer some obvious questions: No, we had no idea this was coming. Yes, we will finish out the season. No, I don't think the WB is doing the right thing. Yes, I'm grateful they did it early enough for my people to find other jobs.

Yes, my heart is breaking.

When Buffy ended, I was tapped out and ready to send it off. When Firefly got the axe, I went into a state of denial so huge it may very well cause a movie. But Angel... we really were starting to feel like we were on top, hitting our stride -- and then we strode right into the Pit of Snakes 'n' Lava. I'm so into these characters, these actors, the situations we're building... you wanna know how I feel? Watch the first act of "The Body."

As far as TV movies or whatever, I'm not thinking that far ahead. I actually hope my actors and writers are all too busy. We always planned this season finale to be a great capper to the season and the show in general. (And a great platform for a new season, of course.) We'll proceed ahead as planned.

I've never made mainstream TV very well. I like surprises, and TV isn't about surprises, unless the surprise is who gets voted off of something. I've been lucky to sneak this strange, strange show over the airwaves for as long as I have. I don't FEEL lucky, but I understand that I am.

Thanks all for your support, your community, and your perfectly sane devotion. It's meant a lot. I regret nothing (except the string of grisley murders in the 80's -- what was THAT all about?) Remember the words of the poet:

@Krüml: Na ja, das ist letztendlich die Entscheidung von Herr und Frau Webmaster, denn die zahlen ja. Ich kann mir aber kaum vorstellen, dass sie dazu schon einen Entschluss gefällt haben. Watch this space....

und so unwahrscheinlich wäre das doch nicht, oder?! schließlich wollten die Buffy ja auch eine 8 staffel geben. und als daraus nichts wurde, waren sie an einem spinoff interessiert. also wäre es doch nur logisch, wenn sie die entstandene lücke jetzt mit Angel füllen würden.
und vielleicht wäre das ja letztendlich sogar zum vorteil der serie, denn bei UPN hatte Joss doch mehr künstlerische freiheit als bei WB (meine sowas irgendwo mal gelesen zu haben).

Ich war über die Absetzung von Angel alles andere Überrascht. Es ist zwar traurig aber man konnte es kommen sehen.

Warum sollte das Board denn das zeitliche segen? Die wichtigsten Akte X MBs sind schließlich auch noch am Leben.

Angel: Es wird gekämpft werden!

Ein Insider der Produktionsfirma Mutant Enemy von Joss hat gesagt, dass noch nicht das letzte Wort über Angel gesprochen worden ist.

Nach neuesten Informationen streben Joss und seine Mannen einen Network-Wechsel an, da sie nicht glauben, dass WB seine Haltung ändert.

Da Sender wie UPN in finanziellen Schwierigkeiten sind, ist nicht klar, ob die Initiative Erfolg haben wird. Aber dennoch ist es nicht völlig außerhalb jeder Wahrscheinlichkeit, dass die Show weitergehen wird.

Der Insider empfiehlt Petitionen an Fox oder andere Sender zu schicken, damit klar wird, dass Angel noch immer eine sehr beliebte Serie ist. An WB eine Petition zu schicken, bringt seiner Ansicht nach eher wenig.

Wie dem auch sei, spätestens am Mittwoch wird Slayerverse mit allen anderen großen Buffy- und ANgel-Pages aus den USA eine Protest-Aktion der Sonderklasse starten: Wir werden Geld für mehrere große Anzeigen in diversen US-Zeitschriften wie Hollywood Reporter oder Variety sammeln. Auf diese Art werden sehr viele Menschen in den USA angesprochen und zum Protest aufgerufen. Auch werden wir eine zentrale Protest-Page einrichten, auf der immer wieder neue Aktionen geplant werden. Bis zum Staffelfinale im April/Mai werden wir fast wöchentlich Protest-Aktionen verschiedender Art fahren.

Wenn man bedenkt, dass WB damals die Serie Roswell absetzen wollte, aber aufgrund von Fanprotesten (die Fans haben ans WB-Hauptquartier Tabasco Flaschen geschickt) den Schritt wieder rückgängig gemacht hat, kann man sich schon vorstellen, dass die Angel-Fans nicht völlig chancenlos sind, denn unser Protest wird viel aufwendiger und unangenehmer sein als es damals bei Roswell der Fall war.

Ein erster Prototyp unserer Anzeige, die es also hoffentlich in wenigen Wochen in einiegn US-Zeitschriften geben wird, sieht wie folgt aus (Text wird sich noch wesentlich ändern):

wen interessiert, ob es was bringt? wenn man zuhause auf dem arsch sitzt und garnichts macht, bringt es noch weniger. ich finde es gut, wenn solche aktionen gestartet werden. auch wenn es nichts bringt.

Ich poste hier mal ´ne Mail, die ich heute gelesen habe. Ist ein bischen lang, aber hört sich doch interessant an:

Unfortunately, emailing networks or posting in online petitions is a waste
of time. As soon as they start getting emails, they set up spam filters to
delete the mail and they don't ever see what comes in. Waiting around for
somebody to organize something is wasting precious time--organized campaigns
are going to be great but here's something you can do NOW.

If you want to actually do something that actually might--MIGHT--help to
get another season for Angel...

DO THIS TOMORROW

1. Go and buy some postcards that show scenes from your city. Tourist
postcards. Postcards that have the name of your town or city or area of the
country on them. You don't need anything fancy, just something that will
show immediately where you are located so they know this is coming from all
over.

2. Write a short message on the postcard in your own words saying that you
want Angel to be renewed and support the show. Keep it positive. Don't be
insulting. Don't be abusive.

3. Address the postcard to one of the people on the list of addresses in
this message. Levin may ignore the cards coming into the WB, but the media
outlets will see there's a story in this and publicize it. The names on the
list are in order of importance so start at the top and send as many
postcards as you want to (or can afford to send).

4. Go and get at least six friends who probably aren't reading this on the
internet but would be willing to send postcards, and get them to do the same
thing.

5. DO IT TOMORROW! Speed of response is what counts along with the size of
the response. Don't wait for instructions from some group. Just DO IT.
